The $38.8MFundraisingNarrative

The story structure behind $38.8M raised in 2.5 years.

Investors don't fund spreadsheets. They fund a story they can see themselves winning inside of.

I joined ODAIA when it was 15 people and $800K in the bank.

Twenty-nine months later: $13.8M Series A. $25M Series B. $15M ARR. 75 people.

$38.8M raised. 368% revenue growth.

The metrics mattered. But the narrative is what moved the money.

Here's the exact structure.

The 6 beats every
fundable story hits

Investors hear hundreds of pitches. The ones that get funded aren't the loudest. They're the clearest. Walk these six beats, in order.

01

The old world

Name the way things work today, and why it's broken.

Not your product. The world's problem.

"Today, [who] has to [painful status quo], and it costs them [real number]."
02

The shift

Name the change happening right now that makes your moment inevitable.

Investors fund timing. Show them why now.

"But [technology / behavior / regulation] just changed. And that changes everything."
03

The new world

Paint the future your company creates. Make them want to live there.

"In the world we're building, [who] simply [new reality]."
04

The proof

Now, and only now, the numbers.

Specificity is credibility. "$15M ARR" beats "strong revenue."

"We're already [traction]. Growing [rate]. With [proof of demand]."
05

The vehicle

You are the reason this works. Position yourself, don't just list credentials.

"I've done [specific relevant win] before. That's why I can see the path others can't."
06

The ask

Be direct. Tell them the amount, the milestone, and what it unlocks.

"We're raising [amount] to reach [milestone], which unlocks [next stage]."

The one rule that beats every deck template

Lead with the result. Explain the mechanism after.

Investors decide in the first two minutes whether they lean in.

Open on the world you're changing and the traction that proves it's working. Save the how for when they're already leaning forward.

The mistake that kills good companies

Founders pitch their product.

Fundable founders pitch the inevitable future, then reveal they're the ones building it.

Your product is the vehicle. The story is the sale.
